BEN’S STORY

'll never forget the stressful beginnings of my photography journey. I was down to my last $7.35 in my bank account when I had almost given up and applied for a job at Starbucks. An hour later, I would find myself in my first and final interview with a photo agency. That moment marked the beginning of a fulfilling career that has taken me across the globe as a photojournalist, cinematographer, and now workshop leader.

Looking back, there were several key factors that propelled me toward success:

First and foremost, I had incredible mentors who recognized my potential and provided me with guidance and belief in my abilities. Their support gave me the confidence to grow and evolve as a photographer.

I also had the privilege of receiving opportunities to capture compelling and impactful images. These experiences allowed me to refine my skills and develop my unique visual voice.

Surrounding myself with like-minded creators played a vital role in my journey. Being in the company of passionate individuals who constantly pushed and inspired me pushed me to elevate my craft to new heights.

And as I began to achieve professional success, I made a conscious effort to reinvest in myself. I continued to push the boundaries of my artistry and technical skills, never stagnating.

While I dabbled in various genres throughout my career, underwater photography is something I discovered later on. I plunged headfirst into this thrilling realm, and my first underwater assignment? Great White Sharks!

Along the way, I've experienced tremendous triumphs, but I've also faced miserable failures. However, I've come to realize that those failures were incredibly instructive, shaping me into the photographer I am today.
